We’re your neighbors who live and work in your community. We share your values and aspirations. And as bankers, we endeavor to help you achieve your financial goals through offerings including personal banking, business banking, trust and estate services, brokerage and wealth management services. It’s a commitment we’ve taken seriously since 1905, when railroad workers, ship builders and immigrants from around the world placed their trust in us. They believed in us, instilling a sense of personal accountability and responsibility that remain part of our culture today.

Every client has a story and dreams. So do our communities, which grow and prosper through the people who contribute and the businesses that produce. Passionate about giving back, we stand with our communities, giving our time and financial resources to achieve lasting improvements.

With branches spanning everywhere from the Imperial Valley to the Cascades, and from the coastal cities and towns to the Sierra Nevada foothills, we serve California. No other bank is more passionate about providing for its clients’ banking and lending needs, and giving back to its communities across the Golden State.

Q Committed to Reaching Out, Digging In and Giving Back

At Mechanics Bank, we help enrich our communities by fostering local economic growth and cultivating long-lasting relationships by putting the best interests of our clients first. For more than 115 years, we’ve made innumerable individual contributions to local nonprofit organizations and, today, are honored to be listed among the top 50 Corporate Philanthropists in our markets.

That said, our community commitment extends beyond financial support. We make strategic business decisions to ensure we can remain a trusted business partner for years to come, starting by taking local accountability. We may have grown substantially, but many of our decisions are made on the local level, by employees who are your neighbors and friends. We grow strategically, making sure we’re big enough to meet all our clients’ needs but small enough that your local branch staff knows you by name. And your deposit dollars also stay local, often reinvested into the economy in the form of loans to help local businesses grow and create local jobs.

Finally, when we’re not delivering top-notch service to our clients, we’re volunteering in our communities. Mechanics Bank employees support more than 50 community-based organizations by contributing hundreds of volunteer hours each year. We look forward to rolling up our sleeves even more this year to help keep our communities heathy, vibrant and strong!
Here For You, Here For the Community
Join us and discover why local community banking is good for you, your business and your community.

Local Accountability
We’re based here. Our decision makers live and work here, too. Want to talk to a senior executive or our CEO? No problem.

Emotionally Invested
We’re locals, and we’re actively involved in our communities, not just financially, but with our time, energy, heart and soul.

Right-Size, Full-Service
We’re big enough to meet all your needs, while remaining small enough to know you personally and how to serve your best interests.

Local Economics
Your deposits stay local, and are reinvested into the local economy in the form of loans to help local businesses grow, create local jobs, fuel our local economy and improve our communities.

Technology to Go
A secure mobile app with remote deposit (and a 4.5 star App Store rating), easy-to-use online banking, online bill pay, and person-to-person payments...you really can bank how you want, when you want...wherever you want!

No TARP Here
We were one of the first to turn down the U.S. Government’s offer for bail out assistance back in 2008 because we simply didn’t need it. Having already survived two World Wars and a Great Depression, we've learned a thing or two about having a long-term vision and maintaining our financial strength. Being here to serve you in the future is something you can bank on.

We’re for Main Street
It’s where our own small business started more than a century ago, and where it still resides today. Our business only thrives when our clients and local communities do, and that’s why you come first.

Q Why Bank With Us?

Backed by exceptional capital strength and substantial assets, we are a resilient and resourceful California bank whose core banking and lending principles reflect that of a community bank. For over a century, it has been our foremost commitment to exceed our clients’ expectations every day.

Q Why Mechanics Bank?

Through our storied heritage, we’re connected — to you and your community. With branches spanning from the Imperial Valley to the Cascades and Klamath Mountains, and from the coastal cities and towns to the Sierra Nevada foothills, we serve California. No other bank is more passionate about providing for its clients’ banking and lending needs, and giving back to its communities across the Golden State.

Safety & Soundness
Managing a transparent and simple balance sheet free of hedges, derivatives or swaps, we value core banking and lending principles that have allowed us to withstand challenging times, including the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, the Great Depression, and World Wars I and II. At the onset of the Great Recession in 2008, Mechanics Bank was among the first banks in the nation to turn down the Treasury Department’s “Troubled Asset Relief Program” (TARP) assistance.

* Over $18.1 billion in total assets1
* $15.5 billion in deposits1

Q Community Commitment

We strive to understand the needs of the communities throughout our footprint. To achieve this, we work closely with local chambers of commerce to support small businesses and community-based organizations to offer programs such as Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) for individuals who are saving to get a college education, buy their first home, or start a business. We also work with the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco (FHLBSF) to provide 3:1 first-time homebuyer down payment and closing cost assistance through the Workforce Initiative Subsidy for Homeownership (WISH) and Individual Development and Empowerment Account (IDEA) programs.
